However, the path forward may present unique challenges for those of us who walk a Pagan path.

The guidance aims to protect students’ rights to engage in personal or group prayer, express religious beliefs, and participate in religious activities, to the extent that these expressions do not disrupt the educational environment. While the DOE guidance emphasizes religious neutrality, questions arise regarding the practical application of these principles.

For Pagan students, who may practice earth-based traditions or honor deities outside of the Abrahamic faiths, the enforcement of neutrality is vital. Will the guidance fully recognize and protect the diverse array of spiritual expressions, ensuring that Pagan students feel safe and respected in their beliefs?

The absence of non-Abrahamic examples in the DOE guidance sparks discussion about representation and inclusion.
